Site description:
Grenfell and Hunt identified this site which is 16 km from Theadelphia as the city of Dionysias. Literary texts identify the town as frontier station and customs house for caravan traders presumably coming from the eastern desert. A stone Ptolemaic temple and scanty domestic remains was all that was recorded.
